Seniors fall short, but Reserves take their first win of the season!

It was a a tough grind against Surfers Paradise over the weekend who were also desperate to get a victory. Had our chances in the last quarter to win but fell agonizingly short by 6 pts. Special mention to the senior boys; Liam Dwyer, Nate Colenso and Dylan Swann who were solid for us. The boys look to bounce back this week against Palm Beach away on Saturday the 11th of June. Final Score: MAFC 11.8 74 SPAFC 12.8 80 RESERVES:

After a very competitive first quarter the team went into the first break only 2 points down. It was a very different story in the second quarter when we displayed the best football we have played all year both offensively and defensively. Our tackling and attack on the football were outstanding and we limited the number of turnovers when in possession. The rest of the game was an arm wrestle with the siders managing to hang on by one goal.

The team is beginning to play with some belief but we will need to play 4 good quarters to prevail in the coming weeks.

Final Score: MAFC 10.11 70 SPAFC 9.11 65 COLTS: What promised to be an opportunity to produce a positive response off the back of some good lessons learnt from the previous weeks disappointment against Mt Gravatt didn’t eventuate. We allowed the opposition to score easily from turn overs through poor decision making and skill execution particularly early in the game. What was a positive take away, we did battle to stay in the game for the reaming part of the game unfortunately only going down close to the margin we gave away in the first quarter. A massive challenge now lies ahead for our talented group if we are to be a contender for finals in 2022. Do we have what it takes?
