We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for the Morningside Panthers as we proudly welcome Dr. Georgia Black to head our Female Football Excellence Program. This ground-breaking role marks a pivotal moment for our club, representing a giant stride towards setting new standards in women's community AFL programs across the country.
A Vision of Excellence
Dr. Black's role is set to redefine our approach to female AFL, encompassing a holistic vision that spans participation, elite youth development, wellness, and high-performance teams across all grades. Our ultimate goal is to create a seamless pathway for aspiring young girls who aspire to reach the highest echelons of AFL, whether it's as a player, coach, umpire, or administrator.
Senior Football President, David Diamond said on Dr. Georgia Blacks' appointment, "The Panthers are extremely fortunate to have someone of Georgia's calibre on board. Her wealth of experience, technical prowess, and proven operating style instils confidence in players, coaches, and stakeholders alike."
A Proven Track Record
Dr. Georgia's impressive resume speaks for itself. In her previous role as Head of Performance with the Queensland Firebirds, she masterfully managed team strength and conditioning, medical and injury management, and nutrition, all while supporting the coach in implementing their game plan. Her extensive experience in building programs of excellence and aligning players and staff towards common goals is impressive.
Her influence extends beyond her work with the Firebirds; she has contributed her expertise to several professional sports, including the Brisbane Roar and Queensland Reds. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Georgia played a pivotal role in the development of the Coorparoo Football Club's inaugural women's AFL team, which went on to win the QAFLW premiership in 2013.
A Passion for Progress
Dr. Black, upon her appointment, expressed her eagerness to build positive relationships with coaches, players, and the community, grounded in respect and trust. She's excited about the challenge of developing the Panthers' Female Football Excellence Program, recognizing the immense potential it holds. Her words encapsulate her enthusiasm, stating, "I am looking forward to building positive relationships with coaches, players, and the community through a common foundation of respect and trust. The opportunity to develop the Panthers' female football excellence program is a challenge that excites me. I certainly appreciate the opportunity!"
What makes this appointment even more special is Georgia's unique background as a Doctorate Sport Scientist with over a decade of experience in female sport. She holds a PhD in women's Australian Football, making her the perfect candidate to drive our vision of excellence forward. And, in a remarkable twist, Georgia's connection to the Panthers runs even deeper as she was once a player with the original Panthers Wildcats women's teams from 2009 to 2012.
In welcoming Dr. Georgia Black to our Panther family, we are embracing a future of boundless possibilities, where female football excellence shows continuous growth. We can't wait to embark on this exciting journey with her leading the way.
Welcome to the Panthers, Georgia!
