MATCH REPORT: ASPLEY HORNETS V MORNINGSIDE PANTHERS

SENIORS:

ASPLEY 20.13-133 MAFC 6.6-42

Tough day at the office for the seniors, off to a slow start saw us playing catch up the rest of the day. A really positive response in the 2nd QTR where we were on top or breaking even in our key indicators and a much better intensity level shown by the group in the contest allowed us to out score Aspley.

Had early looks in the 3rd but couldn't capitalise and Aspley were able to hit the scoreboard regularly.

The Seniors regroup for Broadbeach away this week, keep building and making sure good moments become more regular leading into future games.

RESERVES:

ASPLEY 13.10-88 MAFC 6.13-49

The Reserves started the game with some positive play and for the first 15 minutes we had the Aspley on the back foot but however the team was not rewarded for effort on the scoreboard. Unfortunately we then drifted into some bad habits and Aspley made us pay on the scoreboard. Our skills under pressure and ground ball gets were not where we need them to be.

The whole side hung in there and our last quarter was excellent. We played some enterprising football to set ourselves a benchmark for the remainder of the season. One of the pleasing aspects in the last few minutes with the game out of our reach was our full field pressure to deny opposition ball movement.

We need to become more consistent with our game and put together 4 quarters of the footy that we have proven we can play.

A win is just around the corner.

COLTS:

ASPLEY 2.3-15 MAFC 3.3-21

The journey to Graham Road hasn’t been taken for some years. After last weeks effort the group is beginning to build confidence and belief. Scoring for both sides this week proved to be difficult for the entire game. We found ourselves scoreless at ¼ time and needed to scrap our way back into it.

The defensive effort for the remainder of the game was exceptional as we keep the opposition goalless. The second half saw our focus on controlling the game building uncontested marks. This resulted in more than 50+ for the second half. This was enough to take away a win. A fantastic team effort!
