CELEBRATING PRIDE ROUND LAST SATURDAY AGAINST SHERWOOD! GREAT WINS BY THE GIRLS!
It was a fantastic celebration of diversity on Saturday with plenty of colour and some great football performances out on the deck. Although the Men’s QAFL sides did not get the win it was fantastic to see the two women’s teams put on a fantastic performance against Sherwood at home. A big thanks to all those who attended and Place Bulimba for sponsoring Pride Round!

SENIOR FOOTBALL RESULTS
QFAW DIV 1 - Rd 13 vs Sherwood
What a way to celebrate our annual pride round with two strong wins over Sherwood
The seniors continue to set the bar higher each week to get on top of Sherwood after a tight physical contest. A 3 goal 3rd quarter was the difference with our Place Bulimba best on ground Summer Pearce having a stand out game slotting 2 of those goals.
SENIOR WOMEN'S: Final Score: MAFC 5.2 32 SHER 2.6 18
You would not of thought it’s been 27 days since our Reserve’s last played due to two forfeited matches & a bye, considering the way they played this week. A special day with one of our inaugural women’s players Amanda Bayliss playing her 50th game. What a game it was with a goal to go with her best on ground performance.
RESERVES WOMEN'S: Final Score: MAFC 8.6 56 SHER 0.0 0
SENIOR MEN'S: Certainly not our best performance yesterday, Sherwood were able to turn the result from our catch up game two weeks ago. On Saturday we were a long way from where we think we should be performing and still only lost by a few goals, so still plenty to learn for our group, not just our younger players but our leadership groups as well. so still plenty to learn for our total group in. In saying this, we had strong performances from Flynn O’Toole, Liam Dwyer and the ever consistent Darcy Cameron Reeves. We regroup, learn from the weekend and head to Wilson Grange next Saturday RESERVES: The side started very strongly against Sherwood with good defensive pressure across the ground. We were accountable and worked extremely hard in many facets of the game. If anything our forward entries were a little too shallow throughout the first half. In the early stages of the third quarter we attacked consistently but did not get reward on the scoreboard. We also lost our way a bit at stoppages as the opposition clearly won the clearance battle. In hindsight this quarter ended up being the one that determined the result. The last quarter was an improvement but we could not peg the margin back enough to get the win. A very good effort that needs to be improved upon for next week. COLTS: The energy of the group was fantastic, there seemed a belief in the opportunity to be competitive. Unfortunately, we didn’t get off to a start we had hoped in the first qtr. allowing the opposition to get the jump. This led to the opposition having a 4 goal advantage at the first change. The encouraging signs after qtr. time was, we were able to maintain the same amount of scoring as the opposition basically going down in the end by what we gave away in the first qtr. By no means should the group be disappointed as Sherwood will be strong finals contenders. We just need to focus on working over 4 qtrs. and backing our team mates to win the footy which allows us to get on the outside and playing a more attacking brand of footy. Our focus over the last 5 rounds will be to try and bet some of those teams above us on the ladder and finish the season on a positive note.
SENIORS: Final Score: MAFC 11.11 77 SHER 15.9 99 RESERVES: Final Score: MAFC 6.15 51 SHER 9.8 62 COLTS Final Score: MAFC 6.6 42 SHER 11.6 72

It was great to see the DIV 3 side putting on a show for the Friday night crowd last week. Reaching the 200 mark against an undermanned Zilmere outfit. The boys should be very proud of their performance.
